I’m a bit surprised it’s taken me until the last day of October to actually start writing this. I haven’t felt as stressed this month regarding the technical side of things here at Wanderlust Conqueror.
I’ve been reading Neil Patel’s work more often this month. I’m enjoying his work because he has legitimately quality content that is free. I can only imagine how high-quality his courses and other paid-for content can be.
The Free version of Grammarly has been a huge help. Not that my writing was awful, just that it helps show me where I can improve my work.
I’ve set myself to publish my posts by the end of November. That scares me. I have more articles on the Behind the Scenes stuff than I do on actual travel. I think I’m going to come off as a joke in the travel industry for having so few travel pieces.
I’m currently building my social networks so I’m starting to gain a few clicks to my website. So it’s good that there’s interest but bad because I haven’t made anything public.
I did complete a Commenting Policy for Wanderlust Conqueror. It’s… it’s harsher than I’d like it to read but at the same time, I’m pretty serious about it. I want to make sure there’s a clear idea of what type of community I am building within this site.
I also decided to create a sticky post, A Promise to My Readers. Since I really do want to monetize, I believe it is an obligation to let all readers know that I’m not going to sell my soul (or their email addresses) for a quick buck. I’m hoping it will help all the WC readers know they are greatly appreciated. I know it’s going to take a long time to develop a readership and following and I want to keep my earned audience.
Since I’m not in a place where I feel qualified to develop a product for purchase (like e-courses), I’ve decided to rethink Affiliate Programs. It wasn’t the way I wanted to go but if I really want to try to financially contribute to my family, then I’m going to have to just deal with that as an initial angle.
I know I’ve been saying I’m going to get back on Duolingo for about 2 months. Believe it or not, I did get on it for a quick Spanish session…. yesterday. Hey, it’s progress. I did it again today, so I think it’s safe to say things are getting serious.
Financially, I’ve only made one purchase and that’s my monthly Kindle Unlimited subscription. I haven’t even read anything this month. Next month I should be purchasing my hosting so that I no longer have “.wordpress.com” at the end of my URL. That’s also a bit scary.
I mean, paying $100+ up front for something that may not even be read by anyone but my husband is intimidating. I got mad at myself for not using Kindle Unlimited this month because I wasted $10. I’m so lucky Duolingo is free to use. Needless to say, I think that committing to hosting my own site is one of my biggest challenges right now.
I didn’t even hit 700 words on this monthly update. I guess I’m focused on getting the kid clean and ready for his Halloween costume and all that fun stuff. I’ll check in again next month. Hopefully, much sooner.
